Are any of our leaders competent in the Art of War?

What is said about the waging of war?

Is it to be preceded by a string of falsehoods, misrepresentation, and some outright lies meant so scare people into a jingoistic frenzy?

Is it meant to drum up fears in the hearts of our countrymen so that we can, as Scott Horton says, “Wage our own jihad against the brown people of South Asia?”  It does appear to be such things have happened and are continuing to happen.

How is it that leaders lead people in war?

How did the ancient masters of warfare really wage war?

In the Art of War teacher Tzu says that, “When you engage in actual fighting, if victoryis long in coming, then men’s weapons will grow dull and their ardor will be damped. If you lay siege to a town, you will exhaust your strength.” So, do not engage in lengthy campaigns or you will ruin your soldiers chances of actually winning.”

Moreover, Sun Tzu warns us all that, “…when your weapons are dulled, your ardor damped, your strength exhausted and your treasure spent, other chieftains will spring up to take advantage of your extremity. Then no man, however wise, will be able to avert the consequences that must ensue.”

Is this not what is exactly happening to the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, and Chairforce  now?

Of course it is.

Today’s military is being led by politicians, many of whom were too scared to fight in Vietnam so they got deferments, who are too willing to sacrifice the lives of other people.  China is a vast, beautiful, brilliant and very friendly nation. Why is it that we have so many “leaders” in this country trying to scare people into not liking the Chinese? We could never defeat the Chinese except in a nuclear war.

Is that what we want?

None of the scholars I talk with want that, none think it’s a good idea nor do any us think it should be what our government calls our “foreign policy” vis-à-vis China.  But these are the foolish mistakes made by foolish men and women who have a very limited knowledge of history and warfare.

There is a very good local talk show host, Tony Macrini, who came up with the idea that the next time these same folks who are calling for “war” against _____, fill in the blank, we should dispatch the 1^st talk show host brigade. And see how fast they turn tale and run…again. 

Finally, what can we take from teacher Tzu’s lessons on Waging War?

“There is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare. It is only one who is thoroughly acquainted with the evils of war that can thoroughly understand the profitable way of carrying it on. 

Therefore in war it is only those who are competent are who should lead.”

Alas Sun Tzu warned us that, “In war, then, let your great object be victory, not lengthy campaigns.”

Where is such a leader today?

Will we ever escape from the perpetual war for perpetual peace?

The only fighting chance that real Patriots have is Dr. Ron Paul.

Where will this country be in the next 5 or 10 years?

Will we let corrupt politicians and military leaders take us to war with Iran, China, or Oceana?

These are the times that try men’s souls. This dear citizens is when the summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.
